Lady Eagles Take District Title

The Lady Eagles traveled to Alvin Friday afternoon for the tie break game vs. Baytown Christian. The two teams split home games during district play and have been eagerly anticipating the final showdown. "I've been asking the girls all week how they feel.  I kept getting the same answer. We're pumped. We're Excited. We're Ready." said Crihfield.

The game was tight from start to finish. The first set saw the Eagles rack up 23 digs and 11 kills off of 11 assists for a 25-20 victory. The second set saw a Baytown team that was struggling to find their offensive rhythm in route to a 25-15 victory for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Bulldogs came out aggressively in the third set and forced the Lady Eagles into 6 serve receive errors, 5 hitting errors, and 4 dig errors resulting in an 18-25 third set loss for the Eagles.

In the fourth set Crihfield took an early timeout to realign his defense. "I think we just needed to refocus our system. The system had been working all night and so much energy had been spent, the focus just wasn't there. It didn't look right early on in that fourth set. I told the girls that we don't have time to second guess ourselves, trust the system and be aggressive defensively".

29 digs and 14 kills later, the Lady Eagles saw themselves on the right side of a 25-20 victory which gives them the District Championship, a first round bye in the playoffs, and a second round home playoff game that will be played next Friday (28th) here at BCS.

The win puts the Eagles record at 23-16-1. Riding a 10 game winning streak going into the playoffs, the Eagles have climbed up to #9 in the TAPPS 2A rankings.
