Eagles Come Out On Top Of

46-44 Thriller over Arlington Heights

The BCS Eagles travelled to Corpus Christi Friday night to take on Corpus Christi Arlington Heights. In a game that saw two potential "under the radar" teams, neither team was willing to budge. Both teams have outstanding freshmen at the QB position and it was something special to watch. Freshman quarterback Ezekiel Moya for Arlington Heights did his damage on the ground scoring 5 rushing touchdowns while freshman quarterback Juan Solis from BCS did the majority of his damage through the air throwing for four touchdowns and running for one.  The game went back and forth from the opening kick off to the final buzzer.

Moya found the endzone on a 15 yard run with 1:44 left to give Arlington Heights their final lead of the game. Coach Danny Martin got his team together before the kick return. "Execute like normal" said Martin, "We don't need a big play. Just play like normal, we're gonna drive down the field, score, and paul is gonna kick the 2 pt conversion, and we are going to leave this field with a W".

Martin's plan unfolded exactly like he invisioned.

Solis had a 20 yard run to set BCS up near midfield, then martin saw his opening. "I asked Trent, our center, if he was open. He said yes. So I put in Luke at center to get more speed in the game and told him to sit in the middle when Juan scrambles" - Martin.

Solis saw fellow freshman Luke Listak in the middle of a wide open field and hit him for a 40 yard toss and run. The clock showed 45 seconds and the Eagles were on the 5 yard line. Martin then decided to let the clock drain down to 17 seconds before taking a timeout. "We were going to score. I wasn't going to let that kid (Moya) have one more chance to show us how amazing he is" said coach Martin

Solis found the endzone on a 5 yard score tying the game at 44. It was Junior Paul Carey who put in his 4th 2 pt conversion of the night (4-4 on the night) giving BCS the two point lead and the victory.

The win puts the Eagles at 3-0 heading in to a Friday night undefeated showdown vs. High Island (3-0) at home. Make sure to come out and support your BCS Eagles Friday night!
