District Play Has Begun
The Lady Eagles opened up District play Thursday night welcoming Huntsville Alpha Omega into town. The game was highly anticipated by the Lady Eagles. "Doesn't matter the sport, when district play begins everything gets real" said Crihfield. The Lady Eagles came in to the matchup with a record of 7-1 and looking to quickly rise to the top of a very large district. TAPPS combined multiple districts to make bigger districts this year. Adding in multiple 3A teams as well. It's going to be a different feel this year. The Lady Eagles dominated their first district game vs. Alpha Omega closing out a 10-0 victory. "We were a little sluggish at the plate" said McLeod "but we played well defensively". A sentiment echoed by Junior Cat Patterson
"Defensively the team performed very well. Solid pitching with error free fielding shut them down." - Cat Patterson
The solid pitching from Junior Sarah Azlin has been a huge boost to the team this year. She kept Lions off balance all night long and the defense behind her was able to keep them off the scoreboard.
Up next for the Lady Eagles (8-1) is non district UIL opponent Wharton High on Monday. That game will be played at 6:00 pm at the Lake Jackson City Fields.
